I discovered Second-Studio almost by chance by browsing Instagram and from that moment I can no longer remove their products from my head. Creativity here is another level: each piece seems to tell a story, a memory, an emotion. They are not simple objects, they are true thoughts translated into form. The Lighthouse MAXI, for example, made me fall in love instantly: that recall to the old sieve hanging on the nail, the soft light, the exaggerated but perfect proportions... is concrete poetry. But it is not only aesthetic: the quality of the materials is exceptional, you feel the Italian craftsmanship in every detail, the solidity, the choice of finishes. They are objects that will look great, which do not follow walking modes but create a personal and recognizable style. Congratulations to Ignazio Iacono and the team: you can combine emotion, functionality and design in a way that few others can do today. Beautiful products, strong identity, authentic soul. Second Studio shows great attention to the project, details and quality: each product conveys an authentic research in its roots and an artisanal care that is all but discounted today. A clear vision of design is perceived, made of balance between aesthetics, function and culture of the project. Among the products that struck me most is the Portico table, a successful example of how the study can transform an architectural reference into a contemporary object. The base recalls the porticos of the famous painting Piazza d'Italia by De Chirico, with legs playing on rhythm, curves and visual depth, changing expression according to the angle from which it is observed. The top in textured oak, warm and visually light, completes the design with naturalness, creating a balanced contrast with the metallic structure. Les créations de ce jeune designer contemporaneoin s’imposent avec une rare évidence, tant elles conjuguent érudition, sensibilité et audace formelle. Ses lampes et ses meubles ne se contentent pas d’occuper l’espace, ils l’habitent intellectuellement, convoquant un imaginaire savamment construit où dialoguent la mémoire des forms et la liberté du respect contemporaneo. On y perçoit, avec une finesse remarquable, l’ombre métaphysique de Chirico, non comme une citation servile mais comme une résonance. Les volumes semblent suspendus dans un temps indéfini, empreints d’un silence poétique, où l’objet devient presque architecture mental. À cette dimensione s’ajoute une référence subtile à la mythologie égyptienne, lisible dans la solennité des lignes, dans la frontalité de certaines compositions et dans une symbolique qui confère aux pièces une présence quasi rituelle. The détournement d’objets issus de la culture sicilienne constitue sans doute l’un des gestes les plus singuliers de son travail. Ces éléments, chargés de mémoire populaire et de traditions vernaculaires, sont transfigurés par une relecture contemporaneo exigeante. Loin de toute folklorisation, ils deviennent matière conceptuelle, inscribed by a langage formel épuré et résolument actuel. Here we frappe enfin, c’est l’équilibre rare entre culture savante et intelligence du geste. Chaque pièce témoigne d’une deep comréhension de l’histoire de l’art et du design, tout en affirmant une voix personnelle, claire et déjà mûre. What distincts second study from other realities is its ability to combine aesthetic taste, technical knowledge and heritage. A design that is not only cool but unique and really well made! I personally have 2 lamps!
